David T. Rubin earned his doctor of medicine degree with honors from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in Chicago, IL. He completed a residency in internal medicine and fellowships in gastroenterology and clinical medical ethics at the University of Chicago, where he was Chief Resident and Chief Fellow. Dr. Rubin is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine, the Program Director for the Fellowship in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, and Director of Clinical Education for Gastroenterology at the University of Chicago. His clinical practice is based at the University of Chicago Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center.
Dr. Rubin’s research interests include colon cancer screening and prevention, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), teaching medicine, and clinical medical ethics. He is currently the principal investigator for several research projects and clinical trials. Dr. Rubin has contributed numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, review articles, and abstracts to medical literature and he serves as an invited reviewer for such journals as Gastroenterology, American Journal of Gastroenterology, Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and Inflammatory Bowel Diseases.
Dr. Rubin is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association, serving on the Ethics Committee. He is also a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, serving on the Professional Issues Committee, American Society of Gastroenterological Endoscopy, and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA), chairing the Illinois Educational Program 2005–2006. He is also currently serving as chair of Professional Education for the CCFA nationally.
